The time in Stamford with gram was great. It felt like a dream, in the somewhat hard to believe way. It was just so far outside of ordinary life. A treat to get to see her again. It wasn't dreamy in the way that the San Diego week was -- that week was entirely a treat, a golden-hued treat of a week. That week was a week of holding grandma's hand and sitting on the couch together and getting those two ice cubes and walking down the street and putting my glittery toes in the ocean. The 2 night stay in Stamford was different. It was a short little visit. It must have been exhausting. It was wonderful to see grandma, and to have everyone together in that house. To tuck her into bed at night, me and Gram and Kait and my mom all there. That second night, after Greg and Cat and the kids left, sitting with mom and Gram watching the thunderstorm, Rach came and sat with us... earlier that day driving past grandma's old house, knocking on the door of her neighbor, the way they held hands after so long... sitting at 16 Handles, all of us there in that place... haha... We had chili and pasta the first night, which is funny since didn't we always used to have that the night Kait would come into town? After seeing grandma's neighbor on Wednesday, we picked up Rach, squeezed four in the back. So, that was Tuesday and Wednesday. It felt so good to be in the house with everyone there Wednesday evening.
Thursday and Friday were Cloisters days. Saturday I worked a presentation about 'Women in Lutherie' -- I learned what Lutherie meant on the job. Yesterday, I worked too. Didn't even realize I was on the schedule until during C's birthday party the night before.
